Professional Learning Strategy
Ultranet Coaches have developed a three part professional learning strategy that responds to data collected from principals and teachers.
Two eLearning Conferences have been held in 2008 to introduce teachers to, and familiarize them with, new programs, digital tools and equipment.
Further opportunities to develop these new understandings are being provided in workshops planned for different timeslots in locations across the region during term 4, 2008 and term 1, 2009.
We know that one-off Professional Learning sessions are not effective without follow-up in the classroom and coaches are available to support individuals and groups of teachers to develop innovative and transformative learning projects.
Though Ultranet coaches are allocated to specific schools, they will continue to work across the region to develop Ultranet readiness. Coaches have been helping principals to analyse their epotential data and plan for the implementation of elearning in their schools. Coaches are also working with networks such as regional Principal networks, Special Schools Network and Small Schools Networks to provide professional learning and advice around eLearning. They are also working with whole schools, running sessions to raise awareness and introduce new concepts, and with individual teachers to help build their capacity. Coaches are also supporting regional office staff to link innovative use of ICT with their work. Ultranet coaches have facilitated regional events such as Re@ct and Flip Film festivals, National Secondary Schools Computer Fund Briefings and Principals Conferences. They will continue to negotiate with principals and Regional Network Leaders as to how they can be used most effectively to improve Ultranet Readiness in all schools.
